KCCO Courses and Workshop 2011

1. Management Course for Ophthalmologist 2011
This course, targeted at ophthalmologists who manage
eye departments, provides key information and strategies
for learning how to be more effective through better
management.

2. Management Course for Eye Care Programme  
Managers 2011
Dedicated to improving management skills and leadership
(in planning, quality service delivery, human resource
management, and finance) for managers of eye care
programmes within the African context.

3. Bridging strategies 2011
The Bridging Strategies course focuses on methods to
bridge the gap between community members who need
eye care services and eye care service providers.

4. Childhood Cataract Course 2011
This course offers strategies for implementing paediatric
eye care services within VISION 2020 program areas and
at tertiary paediatric ophthalmology facilities.  KCCO also
provides training, as requested, for Childhood Blindness
& Low Vision Coordinators.

5. Translating knowledge from research into issue
or policy briefs & plans for application 2011


6. National Coordinator Course 2010
Roles of National Eye Coordinators are typically loosely
defined, and few coordinators are provided with relevant
training. KCCO collaborates with IAPB to offer this course
(as requested) with the aim of building capacity in NECs.

7. Gender Blindness Course 2010
KCCO provides training for gender and blindness
coordinators On an “as requested” basis.

8. Clinical Low Vision Course 2010
This course covers basic and advanced techniques in
clinical low vision care for children and adults, with
emphasis on children.

As part of its commitment to building capacity of doctors, nurses and program managers in eastern Africa, KCCO leads
several courses throughout each year. KCCO benefits from external faculty from throughout eastern Africa and elsewhere.
Topics of these courses range from low vision to management to writing research papers.  The courses are targeted
towards ophthalmologists, hospital directors, programme managers, nurses, and low vision specialists.
