As a regional center ORCEA strives to provide service outside of its physical boundaries in Moshi and outside
Tanzania to the whole of eastern Africa.   Whenever possible we will offer materials by email or post.  We are
constantly in the process of developing more programmes so this site will change.  All services are freely
available upon request.  For information please contact the ORCEA coordinator (
orcea@kcco.net) Specific
programmes available now include:

Trachoma Information Services:This email service is provided every 2 months. A recent  important trachoma
article is chosen and a synopsis of this is provided by the author with particular attention to what the findings
mean for people involved in trachoma control in developing countries.

Low Vision Information Service: As part of the KCCO and ORCEA efforts to improve knowledge transfer, we
are about to start a periodic email mailing on low vision in collaboration with the Low Vision Unit at Kikuyu
Hospital in Kenya. If you wish to be included on the low vision email mailing, send your name and email address
to
kcco@kcco.net.  

Patient education brochures (English,Kiswahili  & Masai):  These Word documents  can be printed out on
one page (back and front) and folded into brochures.  They explain the disease and the treatment in simple
language for patients. Please visit the
BROCHURES page for the following brochures;
Cataract,Glaucoma,childhood cataract and Trichiasis.

Vision 2020 Plans:  electronic copies of the Vision 2020 plans for Ethiopia and Uganda are available on
request.  Plans for other eastern Africa countries will be made available as they are completed.

Journal of Community Eye Health (for Tanzania):  This is a quarterly newsletter, produced by the
International Centre for Eye Health  (ICEH) in London.  It is distributed within Tanzania by post from the ORCEA
and includes inserts on current issues relevant to the development of the Tanzania Vision 2020 Plan

Eye care personnel in Tanzania: A list of all eye care personnel in Tanzania with email and postal addresses
is available.
